Dr. Daniel Smith completed his doctoral training at Rutgers University, his internship training at the Medical University of South Carolina, and his post-doctoral research and clinical training at the National Crime Victims Research & Treatment Center within MUSC's Department of Psychiatry.He is a licensed clinical psychologist in South Carolina. His primary clinical interests include the evidence-based treatment of PTSD and related conditions (such as adjustment disorder and depression) in youth and adults who have been exposed to traumatic experiences (including child abuse, crime victimization, accidents, etc.).Dr. Smith is a nationally certified provider of trauma-focused cognitive behavior therapy and proficient in cognitive processing therapy and prolonged exposure, all of which are evidence-supported treatments for PTSD. At present, his clinical activities primarily involve training psychology interns and post-doctoral fellows to deliver services to these populations, but he does maintain a very limited clinical practice.
